About the role

Goonyella Riverside is a large open cut coking coal mine in the Bowen Basin, 30km north of Moranbah. Coal from the Goonyella Mine is transported by rail to the coal export terminals at Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point from where it is exported to the company's customers in India, China, South Korea, Latin America and Europe.

This role is based at the Goonyella Mine Site, Central Queensland with the flexibility to discuss commute and residential options.

Reporting to the General Manager, this challenging and exciting role will see you lead and develop a committed team to deliver safe and accurate mine designs and schedules at Goonyella Riverside Mine. You will play a key role in engaging and integrating various support functions to align our longer term strategic direction and enablers to ensure the ongoing safe and efficient operation of our assets.

In this role you will:
  • Promote and influence safety and risk management processes into site plans (short and long-term focus);
  • Provide leadership and effective management of the mine scheduling department including safety performance, costs and budgeting, culture and continuous improvement plans;
  • Lead Compliance to Plan/Schedule process including performance reporting / production management;
  • Coordinate and positively influence the integration of simultaneous projects within site operations;
  • Lead the identification and management of schedule risks, providing ongoing communications to relevant stakeholders and solution identification including prioritization and realignment of mine priorities;
  • Encourage and develop a collaborative relationship with operational managers to deliver the operational budget in accordance with changing conditions; and
  • Foster a safe to speak up environment to team members to work effectively with customers to achieve the best business outcomes.

This is a critical role that will enable you to utilise your mine planning and leadership skills while gaining broad exposure across the operation, as well as influencing the performance of your team. You will also have access to a supportive and results-oriented leadership team.

About You

You will be a degree qualified engineer with a background in an open cut operating environment and will be able to demonstrate previous success in leading a diverse team to deliver exceptional safety and operational results.

You will have excellent communication skills, verbal and written along with your ability to influence stakeholders, providing sufficient communications to gain agreement and commitment at all levels, take accountability and have an action oriented working style.

As well as performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and delivering excellent results.
