About the role

With focus on effective and sustainable leadership within our Port Operation, this integral role is highly suited to a tenacious and innovative individual with exemplary problem solving and influencing skills.
In the capacity of Manager Port Maintenance, your experience managing high performing teams in a complex multi-faceted operational environment will be key to your success as you influence a positive, productive and safe workforce culture.
You will drive team performance, ensuring overall accountability for fixed plant maintenance activities inclusive of annual strategic planning process, sustainable maintenance strategies, shutdown planning and maintenance execution quality across Nelson Point and Finucane Island and on-site Planning support across all areas of WAIO Maintenance.
Reporting to the General Manager, Port your accountabilities will include:
• A clear vision, strategy and goals for Port Maintenance
• Drive cultural and innovation change, creating an engaged, inclusive and diverse culture
• Enable leaders to solve systemic and complex issues
• Lead Health and Safety performance improvement and model excellent field leadership
• Ensure accountability of your teams via the effective development of Leadership and Team capability.
• Promote and encourage innovative thinking with a continual focus on removing barriers
• Develop and participate in Department and Operating forecasts and budgets.
• Embed systems and processes to monitor and report on Shutdown forecast and actual spend.
• Manage large scale Contract Vendors through the approved Contractor Management Framework.
• Lead optimisation of specialist equipment across the Asset to create best practice maintenance execution and performance.
Location
In this residential 5 days on 2 days off roster you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.  The 20,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities. 
The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
A Fly-In-Fly-Out roster may also be available for the successful applicant. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge and games rooms. All rooms at the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.

About You

As the successful candidate you will be a strategic thinker with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to inspire innovation and manage change effectively.
You may also possess the following:
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering or other maintenance related technical discipline
• Experience in fixed plant maintenance within mining, heavy industry, aviation, FMCG or relevant industry
• Proven Safety experience with knowledge (preferred) of Mine Safety & Inspection Act on Regulations.
• Excellent leadership skills with strong communication, negotiation, influencing, interpersonal and relationship managing attributes.
• Good understanding of how advancing technology as well as diverse mind-sets can be leveraged within maintenance to deliver new outcomes
• Strong ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
• Proven ability in developing standards of work
• Demonstrated experience developing high performing teams
• Working knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection Act & Regulations
