About the role

If you are someone who would like to join BHP’s tech revolution with an opportunity to drive how Solution Architecture is viewed and managed, this role is for you.   In this role, you will be the driving force behind the Solution Architecture Team, leading in the specification, consistent design, and implementation of BHP’s Data and Platform solutions across the business.   You will help develop BHP’s best solution architects by enabling and coaching them on best practices, solution design, and presentation and communication skills.  You need to be technically capable and credible in your own right as well as effective in shaping the solutions-focused skills of your team.   Reporting to the Head of Data & Platforms, your key accountabilities will include:
  • Define the architecture patterns that support the business as identified by the Technology Strategy and Enterprise Architecture teams
  • Refine and lead the implementation and delivery of the BHP Technology architecture vision through the definition of architecture solutions
  • Build, maintain and be accountable for a solution architecture lifecycle and methodology appropriate to the wider enterprise architecture, including the definition of artefacts, deliverables, models, processes, roles and responsibilities
  • Manage and provide leadership to a cohesive team of architects, internal and external experts and contractors, globally
  • Support communication and collaboration on Data and Platforms initiatives and impactful changes through participation in Enterprise Architecture forums
  As this is a global role, you will be required to work flexible work hours to support teams in multiple time zones and domestic and international travel will be required.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate functional experience (5+ years) and excellence in solution architecture for data management and integration. Undergraduate or Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Electronic/Electrical Engineering or related discipline is preferred. Demonstrable experience in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid Waterfall project methodologies is also a requirement for this position. You are likely to have a good understanding of ISA95 and other relevant standards, as well as SOA, APIs and integration services. Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOFAF is highly desirable. You are likely to have deep knowledge of many platforms such as big data, Hadoop, data management, data governance services, BI and analytics.
