About the role

Group Treasury holds the Group-wide mandate to maintain a strong balance sheet and manage all financial market exposures. We achieve this by embedding strategic insight and best in class execution of creative, value-generating and proactive structuring solutions.  Within this mandate, the Treasury Risk team oversees the risk management platforms, governance, key risk and performance frameworks and continuous improvement programs.

We are now seeking to fill the role of Manager Treasury Risk, reporting in to the Group Treasurer. We seek a commercial leader who can develop, optimise and oversee the Treasury Risk function and manage engagement with Treasury commercial teams and key internal stakeholders.

About the Role

In this role you will:
  • Lead the risk function (three direct reports) and team development
  • Deliver independent governance oversight of the Group’s activities in foreign exchange, interest rate, liquidity and debt markets
  • Define group wide financial counterparty risk appetite and tolerance
  • Design and maintain risk management frameworks
  • Manage Treasury's compliance with regulations and internal policies
  • Oversee BHP’s monitoring and adapting to key financial market regulatory changes including LIBOR transition
  • Oversee development and improvement of key Treasury risk systems
  • Interface with key internal governing functions and other supporting functions including finance and technology

About You

To ensure success in this role you will have significant risk management experience with a track record of delivery in funds management, international corporate treasuries, natural resources, commodity trading or wholesale banking. You will have extensive knowledge of financial instruments and current market dynamics encompassing foreign exchange, interest rates, basis markets, credit/XVA and investment products. 

You will also bring strong engagement skills, including the ability to build effective relationships with individuals at all levels and experience in delivering risk solutions to senior management. Treasury Management Systems knowledge and experience with Bloomberg/Reuters is preferred. You will have a Commerce/Finance or related degree qualification, and a CFA or Masters in Applied/Quantitative Finance would be an advantage.
