About the role

The Non Process Infrastructure (NPI) & WA Iron Ore Maintenance (WAIO) Engineering team based in Perth provide support for a wide portfolio that require specialist Mechanical engineering expertise.  Reporting to the NPI Lead Engineer of Governance & Technical Stewardship (GTS), the NPI GTS Mechanical Engineer plays a key role in a multidisciplinary team supporting operations, maintenance and project delivery.
This role requires maintenance and, when necessary, creation of standards and specifications; plus engagement and management of internal stakeholders and engineering consultants, who will provide designs for review for compliance with Australian, international and Company standards.
NPI GTS Engineers also identify, evaluate and integrate new technologies and methods that increase safety, reduce or eliminate risks, whilst ensuring cost effectiveness and performance.

About You

As part of the NPI Engineering Team within BHP Iron Ore, the following attributes will be key to your success:
  • Tertiary and/or Post Graduate qualification in Mechanical Engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated capabilities in effectively engaging with various levels and across Operations and Functions
  • Experience with Mechanical Engineering in Water Industry preferably with knowledge in water, waste water, water treatment plants and hydraulic modelling 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Australian Standards in the Water industry, piping, valves, pumps and HVAC
  • Knowledge of Classified Plants management system as per the Mines Safety and Inspection Regulation (MSIR)
  • Proficient in Asset Management

You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’.
