The South Flank Project is an expansion of BHP's existing Mining Area C hub, located approximately 130 km by road north-west of the town of Newman. This project has potential to become one of the largest standalone iron ore processing centres in the world, within reach of several billion tonnes of high-grade ore.

About the role

As the Mechanical Technician you will be involved in commissioning activities and developing Standardised Work Practices within the Fixed Plant Maintenance team while also promoting and consistently following the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively each day. 

About You

Ideally you will have exposure in the Maintenance Area in a large scale mining operation, with previous experience troubleshooting crushing, conveying and hydraulic systems.We are looking for an individual who is passionate about continuous improvement of processes and plant performance, resilient to change and who will ensure constant compliance with all HSEC standards, policies, guidelines and procedures.  

You will hold a Trade Certificate in Mechanical Fitting and have sound experience with safety systems and automated plant control systems all whilst demonstrating visible safety leadership.

The end state roster will be based on a foundation of 2 week on (7 days, 7 nights), 7 days off. However, initially we require flexibility from those successful candidates as we execute the required work on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster.
