The General Manager of Goonyella Riverside Mine site recently made the decision to implement autonomous haulage systems. As a result of this transformation, new roles to support autonomous haulage systems are being created.  This includes the creation of Mine Controller (AH Systems) positions which will use AHS applications and network at their optimum to maximise Autonomous Haul Truck (AHT) usage, and collect data and analytics to support improvements to AHS to operate more safely, efficiently and improve productivity.

About the Role

A key critical role in an autonomous environment is the Mine Controller (AH Systems). You are responsible for the effective management of our AH control systems to efficiently and safely execute the 24 hour Daily Mine Plan. You collaborate and communicate with onsite teams to coordinate and schedule mining related activities and build the virtual environment for our AHT fleet.

Our Mine Controllers (AH Systems) will be continually working with our software systems including the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS), FrontRunner, which provides an interactive graphical display of the mine site.

The core activities of the role are (but are not limited to):
  • Managing the correct and accurate collection of mining data;
  • Monitoring network stability metrics used to measure  AHS performance;
  • Optimising the interface between the systems and technology on the AHT fleet and manned equipment to safely achieve the mine plan;
  • Adding and removing obstacles in the virtual mine to align with actual state;
  • Managing deviations and assisting in generating recovery paths in the Autonomous Haulage System.
  • In addition you will
  • Send AHTs for refuelling and maintenance without compromising production targets;
  • Manage emergency stops; and
  • Focus on continuous improvement in safety and efficiency performance.

The Mine Controller (AH Systems) roles will be located on site.

We will require you to work day and night shifts on a continuous roster.

About You

We are seeking candidates who are excited about being part of a large technology transformation. This role is for you if you:

If so, the following experience will be highly regarded:
  • exposure to Fleet Management Systems;
  • prior experience working as a Controller (including Remote Operating Centres);
  • mine site experience 
  • Understanding of safety processes and systems that apply at a mine site.
