About the role

Reporting to the Mine Geology Superintendent, we are currently seeking experienced Geologists to join our Mine Geology team in the Bowen Basin on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster. This role will focus on the mine’s geology to ensure accurate geological information is provided to the team’s stakeholders in order to maximise coal production.

These are 12 month fixed term roles with the possibility to go permanent.

In this role you will:
  • Provide geological support to the site operational teams;
  • Update 3D models of coal seams and geological features;
  • Perform pit structural mapping and inspections;
  • Undertake geological data collection, interpretation, validation and reconciliations;
  • Provide input into mine plans and designs;
  • Identify and implement workable solutions in regards to geological and or structural issues;
  • Seek to minimise coal loss and dilution;
  • Continuously improve procedures and processes; and
  • Deputise for the Mine Geology Superintendent.

About You

You will have a Tertiary Education in Geoscience, with significant experience with open pit coal mining. Your knowledge of coal mining, structural geology and grade control processes will ensure your success, as will your exposure to geological modelling software.

Experience with Vulcan and or Go-CAD, with the ability to perform pit inspections, and exposure to geological database software is mandatory. You will be diligent, self-motivated and an excellent team player with positive relationship building skills, coupled with a high level of attention to detail.

A valid Australian Drivers license is a pre-requisite.
