Location

Goonyella Riverside is a large open cut coking coalmine in the Bowen Basin located 30km north of Moranbah. Goonyella Riverside Mine utilises both Dragline and Truck & Shovel stripping methods to uncover 3 seams of coal and is processed through 2 prep plants. This is an exciting time at Goonyella Riverside with the Autonomous Haulage project entering execution phase and will deliver a step change in both safety and productivity for the largest stripping operation within the BMA portfolio.

About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Scheduling, as the Specialist Mine Scheduling you will be engaged in providing clear direction to the execution teams through mine designs and schedules for the 0 to 12 week time frame for the truck & shovel fleets. Using your already solid mine planning skills and experience in this exciting and challenging short-term mine planning role to develop effective working relationships with the operational teams in order to ensure the efficient execution of your plans and schedules.

This is a great opportunity to hone your mine planning skills as you gain exposure to a world-class operation through accountability and autonomy of your work tasks. You will also have access to a supportive, inclusive and results-oriented leadership team.

This is a Monday to Friday, 9 day fortnight position, however flexible work arrangements are on offer.

In this role you will:
  • Prepare Truck & Shovel designs;
  • Communicate the designs to Production Coordinators and Operations;
  • Participate in the investigation of reported events for Production Planning;
  • Identify and implement Production Planning improvement initiatives;
  • Build cross-functional relationship with the Operational sub-functions and interact extensively with the Planning sub-functions.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education background in Mining Engineering with previous experience working at an operations level. Your demonstrated experience working in mine planning teams particularly planning and scheduling for truck and shovel will see you succeed in this role.

As well as your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments and able to communicate at all levels. A strong working knowledge of design tools (Deswik/Vulcan), Microsoft Office, Xact software packages are desirable.

You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
