Our Operations

Goonyella Riverside is a large open cut coking coal mine in the Bowen Basin, 30km north of Moranbah. Coal from the Goonyella Mine is transported by rail to the coal export terminals at Dalrymple Bay and Hay Point from where it is exported to the company's customers in India, China, South Korea, Latin America and Europe.

About the role

This role is based at the Goonyella Mine Site, Central Queensland with the flexibility to discuss commute and residential options.

Reporting to the Manager Mine Scheduling, this senior role will see you lead and develop a team to deliver safe and accurate mine designs and schedules at Goonyella Riverside Mine.

This role provides the support to the Manager Mine Scheduling to contribute toward the longer term strategic direction and which supporting the direct team to deliver day-to day.  You will have the ability to utilise your mine planning and leadership skills while gaining broad exposure across the operation, as well as influencing the performance of your team.

In this role you will:

  • Promote and influence safety and risk management processes into site plans (short and long-term focus);
  • Provide leadership and effective management of the mine scheduling group including safety performance, culture and continuous improvement plans;
  • Support Compliance to Plan/Schedule process including performance reporting / production management;
  • Coordinate and positively influence the integration of simultaneous projects within site operations;
  • Lead the identification and management of schedule risks, providing ongoing communications to relevant stakeholders and solution identification including prioritization and realignment of mine priorities;
  • Encourage and develop a collaborative relationship with operational managers to deliver the operational budget in accordance with changing conditions; and
  • Foster a safe to speak up environment to team members to work effectively with customers to achieve the best business outcomes.

About You

You will be a degree qualified Mining Engineer with open-cut experience, some of which ideally including time in operations.  You will be able to work collaboratively as part of a tight knit team and be able to influence outcomes in a way that aligns with our Charter Values. 

You will also demonstrate:
  • Proven experience working in a senior technical services or mine planning role in an open cut environment, 
  • The ability and desire to lead, coach and mentor a team of engineers and other technical professionals to deliver safe and productive outcomes ;
  • Well-developed communication skills and an ability to influence various stakeholders;
  • Acumen to bring together systems and processes to assist the team in achieving their best; and
  • Ability to develop relationships with leadership, peers and cross-operational groups.
