Olympic Dam - Our Operations

As one of Australia’s largest mines and most complex minerals processing operations, it’s quite unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well-equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

Working in both our newly accessed Southern Mine Area (SMA) and our tertiary Northern Mine Area (NMA), you will provide specialist advice and execute analysis and benchmarking of Development's end-to-end performance. You will identify and implement a portfolio of improvement initiatives that enable excellence and support business priorities for continuous improvement.

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on an 8/6 or 5/2 roster, with residential or FIFO options available.

Core responsibilities are:
  • Compile reports & provide expertise to other teams in analysis of production performance indicators and metrics; 
  • Prepare inputs to form the production budget and produce operating standards, procedures and work instructions;
  • Analyse and determine equipment capability assumptions; 
  • Identify functional capability gaps and recommend improvement opportunities;
  • Liaise with underground crews to ensure that new ideas are developed and practically implemented an build cross-team relationships;
  • Provide feedback to the Planning team to improve future execution plans, designs, schedules and forecasts; and
  • Engage with Engineering for modifications needed to plant and equipment.

About You

You will be Degree qualified Mining Engineer or a closely related field and Operational underground mining experience is preferred. Underground First Class Mine Manager’s ticket an advantage.

You will have thorough understanding of the development cycle, including ground support methods, in-cycle fibrecrete/ shotcrete application and QA/QC.

Your previous experience in managing and implementing improvement initiatives highly regarded. You will consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day.
