About the role

Working flexible commute arrangements on a 4 Days on 3 Days off you will be reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning as a Mining Engineer and working within the Truck & Shovel and Dozerpush areas. You will be primarily involved in providing design, scheduling and execution direction around the +1 to 12 week time frame at our Daunia Mine Operation, although you will have exposure to multiple other activities across the site.

Use your already solid mine planning skills and experience in this exciting short-term mine planning role to develop effective and rewarding working relationships with the operational and medium-term planning teams. This role will provide you the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of Mine Planning; from traditional Truck & Shovel and Dozerpush Designs through to Haulage Optimisation and a wide variety of improvement projects.

It is a great opportunity to hone your mine planning and leadership skills as well as further develop a deep understanding of the key value drivers within a geologically complex open cut mining operation, while being part of a very supportive, inclusive and successful team.

Your Responsibilities
  • Prepare Truck & Shovel and Dozerpush designs and schedules to optimise for safe and productive operations;
  • Build relationships with and obtain buy in from the operations teams for plans, schedules and designs;
  • Identify interactions and key enabling activities and put plans in place to manage these;
  • Identify and implement Mine Planning improvement initiatives;
  • Develop and follow the Mine Planning standards and processes;
  • Participate in the investigation of reported events for Mine Planning;
  • Participate in training for Mine Planning;
  • Helping to develop designs for formulation of the budget; and
  • Build relationships and work closely with other mine planning sub functions (Coal Quality, Geology, Survey and Medium Term planning.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education in Engineering and previous experience working at an Open Cut Coal Mining operation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across departments and to communicate with disciplines at all levels. A strong working knowledge of Vulcan, Deswik, Spry/XACT and Microsoft Office would be an advantage.
