About the role

BHP is a leading global resources company. Our Minerals Australia Business is rapidly expanding opening an excellent opportunity for a permanent experienced Registered Nurse / Paramedic for our Nickel West Northern Operations. This role is a Fly in/Fly Out from Perth, Drive in/Drive Out roster – 7 days on, 7 days off equal time roster.Your primary role is to ensure the health and wellbeing of our workforce and members of our community.   Including the treatment of injuries and illnesses, injury management and return to work processes and execution of workforce health surveillance.Located in Mt Keith mining operation, supporting the Health, Safety and Environment Execution team, in this role you will:
  • Provide necessary treatment for onsite injuries and illnesses, supported (where necessary) by onsite Emergency Services personnel and external health care providers;
  • Management and execution of injury management and return to work programs, including involvement in workers compensation processes;
  • Injury Management of all employees as necessary:
  • Executing site health surveillance processes;
  • Participating in Fitness for Work Programs (drug and alcohol testing);
  • Delivering and continuously improving the quality of reporting of health information;
  • Maintaining core medical centre processes relating to equipment calibrations, dispensing medications and general medical consumable stock management;
  • Ongoing engagement of site stakeholders regarding active injury management cases;
  • Ensure reporting to line managers is maintained  and is consistent to site;
Understanding that On Call work will be required as part of this role.

About You

Experienced health processional with experience in a fly in fly out operation or relevant experience in a similar role at a remote health environment. With a proven ability to work autonomously, proactively establish priorities and meet time critical deadlines.  Your strong communication, problem solving and organisational skills will be an asset, as will your attention to detail and your talent to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Qualifications and experience as a Registered Nurse  or Paramedic - current registration with AHPRA;
  • Experience in emergency nursing:
  • Practical experience in the dispensing and administration of medicines under the guidelines of a Poison Permit;
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work behaviours;
  • Ability to work independently, as a sole-practitioner, for extended periods;
  • Excellent, demonstrable clinical skills
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice;
  • You will also have excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage regular commitments and priorities as well as the ad hoc demands that occur in a fast paced environment;
  • Experience in conducting Fitness for Work Testing in accordance with AS/NZS 4308:2008; competent in undertaking audiometric and spirometry testing.
  • Manual drivers licence;
  • Intermediate computer skills; with knowledge of Spreadsheets, possess strong knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
The following would skills, experience and qualities would be highly regarded for this role:
  • Experience working with the OSHA guidelines for injury and illness classification;
  • Exposure to a 1SAP business processes;
  • Experience in emergency, paediatrics and ante-natal care;
  • Current ALS1 or ALS2 certificate;
  • WorkCover WA Approved Audiometric Officer;
  • Operate four wheel drive vehicle (Unit of competency TLIC2025)
  • Competent in venepuncture and cannulation
  • Current Immunisation certificate
