About the role

Accountable for establishing and maintaining Materials Management (onshore or offshore) to meet demand in accordance with BHP Billiton’s Materials Management System, Facility Business Plan, and applicable legislation while executing work in a safe, efficient manner free from environmental impact. Warehouse contributors may span across multiple warehouse and will have technical knowledge to plan and deliver and store goods as required. Warehouse employees will need to be highly proactive and ensuring business reduces waste by influencing/communicating proper BHP procedures and requirements and may be required to oversee/supervise contractors in the same manner. The Warehouse Specialist is a critical link to the Operations/Maintenance teams offshore where work is executed attending meetings, working closely with the work execution plans/permits/etc. on a daily basis and any material requirements will be communicated/aligned to the Inventory Planner and other Supply team members as needed.

Applies Warehouse, Inventory and Logistics Management processes in alignment to design intent, local operating procedures, audits, Group Level Document (GLD) and Functional Level Requirements (FLR) obligations.
Ability to work with minimal instruction and oversight and be able to manage delivery of high quality outputs in a dynamic work environment with overlapping deadlines and tight time constraints.    
Knowledge of Inventory Optimization requirements to support assigned warehouse locations and to provide support for Inventory Planers and warehouse specialists across multiple warehouse locations.
Must understand and be able to explain (written and verbally) complex reporting (Inventory, Materials Availability, MRP requirements etc.) to end-users as part of inventory optimization. Knowledge of MRP settings, stocking strategies and Material Master Structures to assess problems, identify root causes and correct issues that arise.
Must have solid knowledge across all Supply sub-functions (Category Management, Purchasing, Warehouse Inventory and Logistics) as only Supply field representative in most locations globally.
Conduct assessment of obsolete materials, research equipment which the materials are designed for and influence Operations, Projects, Engineering and Maintenance to take action on disposal or to add other stock to optimize performance
Directly impact stock levels and critical spares to minimize costs associated with surpluses, slow mowing, obsolete and damaged materials by having the technical knowledge to perform quality assurance on materials.
In depth knowledge of Oil and Gas materials along with some types of project materials.
May require hazardous materials knowledge and certifications to handle and ship materials both onshore and offshore.
Must be highly efficient in the 1SAP module RLM, BI Reports, Spotfire – Warehouse Cube, RCA tool, Materials Tracking Report (MTR) and Parts availability Tracker (PAT)
Compliance with BHPB Corporate, Business and Warehouse & Inventory policies, procedures and statutory requirements.
Provide direct daily reporting to key stakeholders (W&I Lead, Inventory Planner, Maintenance Supervisors, WM planners, etc.) for all warehouse activity.
Have technical knowledge of the Hazardous Materials Register and Materials Safety Data Sheets per HSEC Plan.
Provide technical knowledge for lay out of warehouse facility or deck laydown areas to improve efficiency of through put as needed based on business activity.
Formulate and execute Warehouse, Inventory and logistics plans to meet forecasted requirements, taking into account estimated lead times for equipment and materials.
In depth knowledge of all local and governmental regulations related to Warehouse safety and compliance.
Have an understanding of HSEC impacts inside and outside of warehouse locations.
Direct impact on QA/QC at third party locations by ensuring a full understanding of housed materials, employee will need to be able to properly identify materials not fit for purposes in some cases.
Maintain an optimized and well controlled warehouse which is safe, clean, organized and well laid out that only has critical break down materials at the platform
Provide suggestions as to what needs to be stocked offshore as breakdown and consumables and get other inventory off the platform and back loaded to the Base warehouse
All Materials kept Offshore have been reviewed with Maintenance Supervisor and are current and fit equipment on the platform and have a BOM/Task list
Inactive/Surplus/obsolete inventory is reviewed annually and disposed as it becomes obsolete in conjunction with the Inventory Planner, Engineering and Maintenance teams.
Manage inventory to ensure that there a no Squirrel stores are established outside the warehouse by ensuring parts are returned properly when not consumed.
Conduct routine cycle counts for critical and non- critical materials at the platform and perform variance reconciliations to ensure that the platform inventory is 100% accurate. 
Understanding of Risks and associated controls within Warehousing Inventory and Logistics.

Scheduling alignment 
Review/assist with creating MM requests in Sparesfinder and align with WM on adding to Task Lists
In depth knowledge of logistics scheduling (aviation/marine) and trucking criteria (as needed to support backfill onshore) to support delivery of Materials to the Platform
Conduct inventory planning and warehouse management processes including:
Material master management
Material stocking strategies alignment
Exception monitoring
Disposition of stock for jobs
Inventory counts and variance reconciliation for critical materials and non-critical materials
Conditioning monitoring for critical materials
Goods movements
Material Storage and preservation
Kitting and staging for jobs
Materials availability management
Repairs and returns management
Oversee Vendor Managed Inventory, ensuring accuracy and sufficient supply to meet current and forecasted demand.
Ensure required preservation or maintenance of materials are schedule according to asset-level plan.
Assist in fulfilling any internal or external audit responses – align with annual schedule.
Ensure real-time/accurate inventory level reports on SAP are available to key stakeholders.
Assist in the training of new and relief Warehouse, Inventory and logistics personnel.

Communication and Influence 
Be able to influence direct stakeholders to reduce and eliminate any possible waste of materials. This includes influencing the maintenance execution activities to follow materials availability and rescheduling efforts to be minimized.
Daily contact with onshore warehouses and inventory planner to ensure materials are available issued and staged prior to the Work order demand date.
Daily contact with the maintenance teams to ensure that materials issued against demand and not used are returned to warehouse (RTW)
At times, will be required to facilitate weekly materials availability meetings across stakeholders and Supply to ensure priorities are aligned, communication is clear across all parties and materials are available as needed.
May require supervision of service contractors at the warehouses to manage HSE risk, productivity and to ensure service levels are optimized to stakeholders.
Must continuously assess materials stocked and not stocked and work closely with Inventory Planning and the warehouse to optimize stock held at each specific location to maximize materials availability while minimizing logistics cost and delays.
Must clearly understand the impact of Inventory to working capital and be able to explain this to stakeholders to ensure optimize stocking decisions.
As the sole Supply representative in the field, must attend field meetings, understand priorities, and then communicate any changes to all Supply sub-functions.
Will be required to participate in ongoing business performance reviews that require open and honest communication to help the business better understand material gaps and processes.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the functional teams, drive continuous improvement based on functional and regional initiatives and past lessons learnt.
Be able to assist with last minute material requests to ensure business needs are met as required.
Develop interaction with Category Managers and purchasing to influence improved performance by material vendors.

4-year post-secondary degree or equivalent professional experience required.
Certificates in Inventory Management, Logistics or Warehouse Management preferred

5+ years of relevant industry experience in Materials and logistics Management
Materials Management, inventory control, logistics and procurement experience, preferably in the hydrocarbon industry
Awareness of Dangerous Goods storage and transport requirements
Knowledge of Materials Management, Inventory control, Purchasing and expediting practices within an MRP system, preferably SAP
Knowledge of Production, Drilling and Completions materials and services
Ability to identify materials and equipment
Knowledge of how to interpret equipment manuals and drawings
Computer skills commensurate with job responsibilities
Good personal, interpersonal and communication skills
Strong health, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance record with knowledge of local regulations preferred
