About the role

Reporting to the Integrated Operations OT Scheduling Superintendent, the OT Scheduling Specialist role involves the planning, co-ordination and scheduling of logical maintenance work or Technology Change and including it in the appropriate weekly, shutdown or other formal schedule where it has an actual or potential impact to safety or production.  The work should be well planned to ensure it is executed according to schedule, minimizing risk and business impact. 

The OT Scheduling Specialist is the conduit to align remote logical work with production and physical work on-site, working with all Technology teams, Site Operations, IROC, MECoE and Projects to ensure work is well planned and scheduled (with maintenance windows as required).

As part of this role you will:

  • Utilise Service Management (ServiceNow) and Work Management (SAP) processes to manage Operational Technology (OT) work (i.e. for software and hardware)
  • Collaborate with Technology Change Owners and the Operations to negotiate Technology maintenance / outage windows
  • Support Change Owners with the business approval process for Technology work, ensuring it is approved by the Change Advisory Board (CAB) as part of the Service Management process
  • Identify opportunities to group Technology work into maintenance windows and/or Releases to minimise business impact
  • Work closely with the Technology Outage Co-ordinator in maintenance window and Release planning when the work is part of a Technology Outage
  • This role has a specific focus on the Iron Ore and IROC operations communications network
  • Liaise with sites and stakeholders
  • Liaise with and support Change Owners with site specific requirements (e.g. Management of Change process, site contacts and site communications)
  • Provide data for the preparation of the Technology budget
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives


About You

You will be an engaging, organised, self-motivated and effective communicator with Technology, scheduling or maintenance experience.  Some skills and experience desirable for the role include:

  • A Technology trade, STEM qualification or other Technology qualification (e.g. Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MCSA,
  • Citrix CCA, NetApp NCSA) will be well regarded but is not mandatory
  • ITIL / Service Management / Change & Release experience will be beneficial but is not mandatory
  • ServiceNow and SAP experience will be beneficial but is not mandatory
  • Operational exposure will be beneficial but is not mandatory
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and influence others without authority
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a range of cross functional stakeholders
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong time management skills
