About the role

We seek highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team as an Operations Analyst, Legal. This role is primarily responsible for providing Legal Operations support as part of the new Legal Operations Team in BHP’s Shared Services Centre locations in Kuala Lumpur. The role report to the Manager – Legal Operations and Transformation who is based in Singapore, and the Manager – Legal Services Team, Kuala Lumpur.

Core Accountabilities
  • Assisting with standing up the new Legal Operations Team 
  • Providing guidance and support for activities including but not limited to legal knowledge management, matter management, budgeting and financial processes, optimizing the use of law firm value added services and reporting. In particular, the legal operations team will be integral to supporting Legal budgeting (including budget strategy) and law firm procurement activities. 
  • Committed to continuous improvement and actively seeking out opportunities to bring innovation and process improvement opportunities to the Legal team. Contributing to the long-term continuous improvement in Legal to ensure operational best practice.
  • In this role, there will be very frequent interactions with members of the Legal team globally, including senior leaders, across the globe. This will require establishing and maintaining relationships with the Legal team, the wider BHP team and our Legal Panel. Build relationships with different Legal teams, stakeholders and aligned functions.

About You

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in operations or practice management for top-tier law firm / big 4 firm, corporate legal department, LPO,  shared services center or consulting firm. Legal, finance, procurement and consulting backgrounds will also be considered.
  • Experience using Microsoft Suite (including Sharepoint), and experience with practice management software like 1SAP and Legal Tracker (formerly Serengeti) preferred (but not essential).
  • Advanced Excel and Sharepoint capabilities desirable
  • Project Management qualification is desirable (Agile preferred).
  • Demonstrated financial and strategic acumen.
  • Spanish language capability is desirable
