About the role

This role will support the Arizona Sites in day to day coordination and activities for site operational, maintenance, monitoring and security requirements.  The successful candidate will safely operate machinery and perform maintenance on geotechnical structures, pumping systems, site roads, tailings, and storm water management structures.  Performs planned and scheduled work activities as a priority to achieve optimal outcomes.  Supports the execution of maintenance work on equipment in peak periods.

In this role you will:
  • Comply with all local legislation and regulations including the ADEQ Aquifer Protection Permit and the Multi-Sector Storm Water Permit.
  • Safe and effective operation of heavy equipment including backhoe, loader, dozer, motor grader, etc.
  • Safe execution of physical labor required to maintain geotechnical structures, pumping systems, site roads, tailings, landscaping and storm water management structures
  • Proactively identify work and submit work requests as an input to the planning and scheduling process.
  • Risk assess work activities and ensure actions are taken to enable safe work execution.
  • Execute reactive, planned and scheduled work to prevent unplanned failures.
  • Ensure work history and work activities are recorded in the business system in a timely manner as per process.
  • Build cross-functional relationships with Maintenance to support delivery of maintenance on geotechnical structures, site roads, tailings, drainage and storm water inspections.
  • Report events and hazards in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with local community, contractor and government/regulator stakeholders.
  • Builds and maintains required skills outlined in the Operator Development Plan.
  • Assist and be a resource for maintenance issues, activities and new projects at site.




About You

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a mine or on closure projects in a closely related field.
  • Deep knowledge of equipment and pumping systems operation. 
  • Operating and site closure field experience including safety, health and environment.
  • Solid interpersonal skills to interact and maintain effective relationships with peers, contractors, regulators and community stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of mine pumping systems and the operation of them.
  • Working knowledge of mine storm water inspections, record keeping and maintenance requirements.
  • Heavy mining equipment operation required or ability to quickly develop these skills.
  • Basic computer and software application skills
