About the role

Reporting to the Portfolio Assurance Lead within Project Services, this role is key to supporting and ensuring success of Olympic Dam Integrated Operations, Modifications and Operations Projects (MOPs). You would be supporting the optimisation and management of the portfolio of capital projects, working closely with Superintendent Project Services, Project Services team, Mine, Surface and Integrated Operations, Operations and Maintenance teams and Engineering Governance and Technical Stewardship team. This is an Adelaide based position.


Key responsibilities include:
  • In collaboration with key stakeholders, in particular with PMO, Finance Business Partners, Delivery Groups, and Sponsors:
  • Ensuring sustainability of the Capital and Operational project pipeline.
  • Optimisation and management of the Olympic Dam Capital portfolio.
  • Providing validity of the Investment Business Cases, associated metrics and valuation models.
  • Implementing and providing guidance related to project and portfolio management governance and assurance with the delivery teams to define, prioritize, and develop projects and programs.
  • Review and recommend improvements to project management artefacts/documents prepared throughout the project lifecycle to ensure high standard of documentation and compliance with investment process and project management framework requirements within the Planview portfolio management system.
  • Supporting project reviews.
  • Support monthly and quarterly portfolio reviews, and 2-year budget/5 year plan submissions.
  • Ensuring the management of the project portfolio, project studies and execution aligns to BHP standards.
  • Set the requirements for project deliverables, based on project cost and complexity.
  • Facilitate lessons learnt and benefits realisation process across the projects in the portfolio.
  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement initiatives for the Engineering MOPs teams.

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant discipline (Engineering, Construction, Accounting); postgraduate degree is a plus
  • Practical experience in a commercial environment focussed on Project Management, Engineering, or related disciplines
  • Experience in project, program, and portfolio delivery, with exposure to project management systems and techniques
  • Sound technical writing and data analysis skills
  • Ability to engage with and communicate effectively across multiple business units and functional areas
  • Commitment to quality and Continuous Improvement
  • Negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to apply business strategy into the way we work
