About the role

This role will support the Site Manager in management of the Arizona Legacy Assets BHP. including San Manuel, Miami Unit, Copper Cities, Old Dominion, Solitude, Superior holdings and any peripheral associated properties.  These sites have a major closure project in progress as well as ongoing operations and repurposing activities. The successful Candidate with support the site manager in coordination across line and functional support teams, compliance obligations, interactions with regulators, communities and neighbouring companies. This role is a great opportunity training opportunity for those wanting to move into senior operational management roles including gaining experience in reporting, CAP, strategic initiatives and team coordination.

This position is a grade 12 role and is based in Arizona.

In this role you will:
  • Supports team coordination and reporting activities.
  • Conduct Field Leadership activities
  • Drive improvement projects on behalf of Site Manager
  • Contributes to all activities for annual, five year and closure valuation and budgets.
  • Engage multiple stakeholders in planning and execution of projects. 
  • Manage contractors and technical consultants as requested
  • Identify, evaluate and manage site risks engaging technical expertise and functional support as required to ensure that site risks are clearly identified, well understood, effectively controlled and well communicated. 
  • Maintain liaison and strong working relationships with external stakeholders including regulators, key contractors, business partners and community. 
  • Provides technical support for Site projects, technology innovation, and Closure studies
  • Maintain compliance with all local legislation and regulations, Group level Documents and local asset procedures including safety, health, environment and community and associated corporate reporting
  • Maintain strong working relationships with local community, contractors and government/regulator stakeholders. 
  • Engage with Projects group on site projects to ensure successful transition and sustainable results. 

About You

  • Minimum requirement of a Bachelor degree in Engineering or Science with background in mining, projects, geotechnical, or environmental
  • Solid understanding of business finances and site expenditures. 
  • Operating field experience including safety.
  • Solid interpersonal skills including an ability to interact and communicate professionally and respectfully with site staff, functional support teams, and regulatory agency representatives.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
