About the role

Our Technology Function consists of Technology Partners who work closely with our Assets and Operations to drive improvement in safety, volume and cost through the application of world-class technology. Global teams support our Partners, accelerating technology delivery and driving functional excellence. Supporting the delivery teams are domain teams of subject experts that will ensure the capability of our platforms, roadmaps and standards, and provide service to projects when required.

In the Transform Applications domain, there are several sub teams that will be the home for the technical experts and the home for the management of the application portfolio. Reporting to the Manager Solution Architecture, your key accountabilities will include:
  • Delivery of Solution Architecture services to all Transform Application projects
  • Conduct the role of Portfolio Manager for the allocated cluster of applications
  • Management of the Technology Application Portfolio, including ingestion, rationalisation, capability mapping and consolidation
  • Develop strategy and direction of BHP Applications and maintaining the Application blueprints and roadmaps
  • Provide technical expertise to Transform projects on the solution design
  • Participates as required in the global architecture chapter representing Applications
  • Develops and manages relationships with key senior business stakeholders to ensure the adequacy and the sustainability of the solution 
  • Manages matrix relationships when working cross functionally and reporting into other parts of the business 
  • Guides and coaches sub team members and mentors junior members of the team

About You

To be successful in this role, you are likely to be degree qualified, preferably in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) subject or possess the equivalent IT/OT functional experience in a similar role. You will have 5+ years’ post-qualification experience and a TOGAF certification will be well regarded. Demonstrable experience in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid Waterfall project methodologies, as well as the ability to lead large matrixed teams and support staff will see you thrive in this role. Cross-functional experience (Infrastructure, Applications, IT, OT, etc.) and experience of mining, oil and gas, manufacturing or similar environments will also be looked on favourably.
As the preferred candidate, you have superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop meaningful relationships and influence stakeholders across all organisational levels, including senior management. Your analytical and systems thinking approach will be well refined, and you can understand and communicate highly technical information to non-technical audiences. You will be highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks and demands simultaneously. Experience managing diverse cross-functional global teams and programs will be advantageous in this role.
