About the role

Reporting to Head of HSE Projects, this role will deliver Crisis and Emergency Management and Security proficiency to the Legacy Assets organization.  Responsible for the management and delivery of emergency response planning, training and support for BHP’s Legacy Assets sites. You will have responsibility for directing and supporting the Legacy Assets team emergency response compliance with Our Requirements, HSE controls framework and IMT/FRT Plans.   This role will also extend to providing support for security aspects across the sites in the USA and Canada.  This role will be based in TBD but will require travel to the various sites during execution.
  • Identify and evaluate threats and risks, advise the Legacy Assets leadership team and provide functional leadership and coaching across Legacy Assets to promote a security and safety culture, verify effectiveness of existing controls and drive continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement CEM strategies, procedures and practices to ensure that all requirements stipulated in “Our Requirements” and Petroleum procedures are met.
  • Provide support to the sites on all aspects relating to CEM and Security.
  • Provide operational and leadership support to Arizona, US and Canadian sites Incident Management Team on all aspects relating to CEM.
  • Provide training and certification for all roles within the IMT team that is consistent with the relevant procedures and the ICS structure
  • Provide support for Crisis and Emergency Management training including development and facilitation of related scenarios.
  • Identify, evaluate and recommend Emergency Response (internal and external) providers as required to provide services to manage any scenario defined emergency within BHP
  • Legacy Assets is prepared to respond to an emergency or security event by having the required resources in place to effectively manage the event
  • Schedule and test our response capability to managing major emergencies within Legacy Assets as part of operational drills
  • Develop and implement response strategies to ensure protection from security and emergency risks with particular focus on new technologies and best practice procedures.
  • Conduct security assessments, reviews and audits to ensure compliance with Security Requirements and Standards and all related supporting procedures.
  • Serve as the Security focal point for the sites
  • Maintain a proactive information network to acquire real time intelligence and information in support of incidents or emerging threats.
  • Promotion of company values with contractors and government agencies in alignment with the Voluntary Principles of Security and Human Rights and ensuring specific due diligence in relation to the use of force

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HSE, Engineering or Science
  • 7-10 years’ experience in the industry with a primary focus on emergency and security
  • Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, interpersonal relationships and communication skills. 
  • Good communicator and extensive influencing skills 
  • Exceptional writing skills
