About the role

The Principal Emerging Strategic Risk will be a member of the Strategic Risk Team and work with the First Line and other Second Line functions to help continually improve the Company’s strategic risk exposure. You will support the Company to monitor the external horizon to identify and manage emerging risks and opportunities to our Corporate Strategy.
Please note that the location of this position is flexible.

Responsibilities include:
  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Ensure alignment with and compliance to Group Level Documents relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Support implementation and execution of the new risk management framework, specifically for external and emerging risks.
  • Manages the mechanisms and tools to proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities (typically external) to the Corporate Strategy.
  • Work with business leaders to ensure emerging risks are appropriately considered in the Corporate Strategy.
  • Partner with the ‘First Line’ and Regional Risk Business Partner teams to help ensure emerging risks are correctly identified and included in the Company risk profile for assessment and preparedness planning.
  • Coaches ‘First Line’ and Regional Risk Business Partner team in how to apply the risk management process for emerging and external risks.
  • Uses the correct technique to govern, support, and lead risk assessments for complex external and emerging risks (threats and opportunities).
  • Supports line management to increase organisational resilience and response capability for external and emerging risks.
  • Monitor emerging risks to detect alterations in their velocity or consequence, to ensure preparedness plans remain adequate.
  • Contribute to the creation, continual improvement, and support of the Company-wide risk management framework, including policies and procedures, tools, roles and responsibilities, and best practice methodologies, specifically to ensure they are fit-for-purpose
  • Contribute to the development of thought leadership that is influential and impactful on the whole Risk function.

About You

This position requires the ability to filter, prioritize, analyze, and validate potentially complex and dynamic material using multiple sources of information (internal and external) into a strategic plan. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in managing and providing expert advice on material risks in the ‘first line’. You will have superior knowledge in regards to emerging risks with a global vision and a track record of thought leadership within this space. Stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders is essential.
