About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent Governance and Technical Stewardship and appointed by the Underground Mine Manager, the Principal Mechanical Engineering Manager (MEM)  ensures all aspects of mechanical engineering activities within the mines surface and underground operations are in compliance with the Safety and Health Management System and Queensland Mining legislation.
  • Develop and improve engineering management systems and oversee the design, installation, introduction to site and maintenance plans for mobile and fixed plant.
  • Monitor and audit mechanical maintenance activities to ensure compliance to the Safety and Health Management System and Queensland Mining legislation.
  • Participation and guidance in risk management processes and assist in the provision of work scopes and budget execution of mechanical engineering projects.
Working in this position will see you ensuring the safety of workers and the reliability of equipment through:
  • Confirming statutory requirements are met and rectify and report issues
  • Development and improvement of Engineering Management Systems
  • Confirmation of compliance in areas of design, installation and safe use of mechanical equipment
  • Confirming all servicing and maintenance work is complaint with relevant requirements and standards
  • Risk Assessment process implementation
  • Preparation of equipment maintenance plans and supervision of maintenance team
  • Assist in provision of work scopes, budget execution and Mechanical Engineering projects.

About You

You will have a demonstrated commitment to safe work practises with a solid understanding of Coal Mines Health and Safety regulations, legislations and  G2 RIIRIS402D | Carry Out the Risk Management Processes.

You will possess tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or be trade qualified with proven underground mechanical experience with proficiency in relevant maintenance software.  Previous leadership with experience working to budget and delivery projects is essential.
