About the role

Provide support to Manager HSE Petroleum Australia and the Australian Production Unit and Australia Joint Interest Unit in provision of expert advice in environment matters. Coordinate the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives and best practices. Manage the preparation and approvals processes for Environment Plans and Oil Spill Execution Plan. Ensure compliance with Our Requirements, risks, processes and controls owned by the function. Engage with relevant authorities and stakeholders.

Operated and Non Operated Assets
  • Maintains effective relationships with key HSE & business leaders within both the JV manager companies as well as peers in the other shareholder organizations.
  • Identifies environment risk issues relevant to the Operated and non-operated assets and works with functional peers to allocate sufficient functional expertise in understanding and managing these risks as required.
  • Monitors environmental performance and reporting from the Operated and non-operated assets to inform the HSE Manager, Petroleum Australia.
  • Supports periodic inspection, verifications and assurance of the effectiveness of the HSE controls framework for Operated Assets


Analysis and Improvement
  • Analyses of environment related business performance, industry trends and work execution history to identify improvements.
  • Develops and controls environment work management strategies as required.
  • Monitors the execution of the governance framework for asset level on HSE - Environment topics.
  • Supports the identification of improvement opportunities and best practices.
  • Supports deployment and monitoring of A&I studies and improvement initiatives, and provides feedback.
  • Coordinates the design of environment standards, procedures and plans, to make them effective, while minimizing disruption to the business.
  • Supports the definition and implementation plan to manage authorities’ inspection.
  • Supports on-site protection within and adjacent to sensitive areas, and ecosystems.
  • Supports environment incident investigation, ensuring root causes are identified and consequent changes to critical controls implemented for incidents where HSE is the owner of the material risks or the critical controls
  • Provides technical expertise in HSE licensing and statutory permitting requirements as required



About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or Environmental Management
  • Understanding of marine ecosystems
  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in offshore oil and gas.
  • Experience in the preparation and implementation of Environment Plans
  • Experience in the preparation and implementation of Oil Spill Plans
  • Successfully managed significant environmental approvals in the offshore oil and gas
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
  • Familiar with Regulatory HSE framework as it applies to the Australian offshore and onshore oil and gas industry
  • Skilled in the application of Microsoft Project and GIS systems
  • Exceptional writing skills
