About the role
This role within the Estimating Team in Perth offers a fantastic opportunity to establish your career within a global mining company on a family friendly Monday to Friday in our Perth office.
Reporting to the Lead Estimator you will be responsible for ensuring development and maintenance of cost estimates for a defined scope of work and enabling the conversion of cost estimates into control budgets.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Analysis of current and external trends as well as the transference of lessons from current/ historical projects
  • Identification and implementation of improvement initiatives including programmatic opportunities for increased capital efficiency and productivity
  • Coordinating and consolidating the estimate development methodology and schedule for the cost estimate or parts of a cost estimate
  • Accountability for the estimate development deliverables produced by the Engineering Service Provider or Specialist Estimating providers
  • Providing cost estimate expertise for the development of cost management related deliverables and ensuring that the estimate is developed to align with Control Budget creation requirements
  • Coordinating the consistent use of engineering deliverables, scope of work, and other documents to develop estimate
  • Validates and monitors that the estimate is developed and supported by the minimum requirements appropriate to the class of estimate.
  • Coordinates and consolidates the basis of the estimate development including any assumptions, qualifications and exclusions.
  • Aligning and integrates estimate development schedule with the project master schedule

Location You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. About You

Your skills and experience may include some or all of the following:
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering / quantity surveying
  • Substantial experience in mining and metals industry with Tier 1 EPCMs, Contractor or Owner
  • Experience in preparing capital cost estimates based on different contracting strategies
  • Demonstrated advanced understanding of estimating core processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrated skill in performing all levels and types of estimating, quantification, pricing, cost analysis, escalation and contingency analysis.
  • Knowledge of engineering performance, manual labour performance, equipment production and derivation of manual and non‑manual wage/salary rates.
  • Knowledgeable of current industry and technical developments.
  • Demonstrated skill to identify, analyse and solve problems in a logical, expedient and decisive manner
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Proficiency in general estimating systems.
  • Excellent skill in oral and written communication with demonstrated skill to make effective presentations to management and client.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with strong work ethics and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated experience in project performance benchmarking
  • Full C Class Manual Drivers License
