About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic and highly astute professional to join the BHP Operations Services (OS) Finance Team.Operations Services is a recently established team of employees who provide production and maintenance services that have previously been performed by external contractors. Operations Services is providing permanent employment to a growing team of more than 1000 employees. As a Principal Finance Business Partner, you will provide specialist financial advice to OS leadership and operational personnel and execute tasks related to the development of financial data and analysis to facilitate well-informed decisions. You will support the improvement of newly established financial processes to ensure simplicity and scalability. This opportunity is based in our Brisbane office with occasional site travel required. 

Specific responsibilities
  • Provide financial support to OS leadership on projects to grow the OS opportunity;
  • Review monthly cost outcomes to ensure accuracy;
  • Strategic analysis, investment evaluations and decision analysis, modelling, range and sensitivity analysis, benchmarking, innovative ideas for value maximisation, reports forecasting, budgeting and presentations for a range of stakeholders, month end completion and governance activities. 
  • Identify and implement opportunities for the continual process improvement within the department
  • Delivery of the annual two year budget and five year plan financial submissions with supporting analysis.

About You

You will be an experienced finance professional with strong commercial acumen with demonstrated execution of Finance process improvement. Your strong engagement and influencing skills will ensure you can work effectively with a range of stakeholders, and will enable you to build and maintain relationships. You are an enthusiastic, confident self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail will be critical to your success, as will your ability to achieve deadlines and problem solve. Previous mining experience is not required.
