About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic and highly astute professional to join the BHP Mitsui Coal (BMC) Finance Team.

As a Principal Finance Business Partner, you will provide specialist financial advice to BMC leadership and operational personnel and execute tasks related to the development of financial data and analysis to facilitate well-informed decisions. This opportunity is based in our Brisbane office with site travel required on a monthly basis to meet with key stakeholders across the operations. 

Specific responsibilities
  • Provide financial support to BMC operations on projects to drive improved financial performance;
  • Review monthly cost outcomes to ensure accuracy;
  • Strategic analysis, investment evaluations and decision analysis, modelling, range and sensitivity analysis, benchmarking, innovative ideas for value maximisation, reports forecasting, budgeting and presentations for a range of stakeholders, month end completion and governance activities. 
  • Identify and implement opportunities for the continual improvement within the department
  • Delivery of the annual two year budget and five year plan financial submissions with supporting analysis.

About You

You may be an experienced finance professional, or a technical/engineering specialist with strong commercial acumen and some finance exposure. Your strong engagement and influencing skills will ensure you can work effectively with a range of stakeholders, and will enable you to build and maintain relationships. You are an enthusiastic, confident self-starter who is able to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail will be critical to your success, as will your ability to achieve deadlines and problem solve. Previous mining experience is not required.
