About the role

Principal Finance Business Partnership - WSD is based in Houston and reports to the Manager Finance Business Partnership - WSD.   This role provides the opportunity to work with the Well & Seismic Delivery team providing exposure across the Petroleum portfolio (exploration, appraisal, production, projects andabandonment).This role requires a commercial mindset and ability to work collaboratively to identify and progressopportunities that create and protect sustainable competitive advantage.  The role works directly with the WSD team to enhance capital productivity, optimize schedule optionality and ensure recoverability of costs from partners.

  • Demonstrates and instills an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development

  • Demonstrates commitment to the BHP Charter and Code of Business Conduct

  • Develops and maintains stakeholder relations with management and teams across Well & Seismic Delivery, Global functions and Petroleum functions.

  • Works with individual contributors and teams to frame and challenge the business case (leverage Decision Analysis toolkit – opportunity framing, investment evaluation, decision trees etc.)

  • Management of WSD inputs (long leads, well planning, standby etc.) ensuring capital discipline and alignment with Global Investment Process (GIP)

  • Supports joint venture and government finance relationships and works with commercial teams and business to support good commercial outcomes (cost recovery, alignment on planned activities, delivery of work plan and budgets)

  • Understand JV Operating agreements and 3rd party Supply contracts to identify opportunities for increased costs recoveries and business goals
