About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, dynamic and highly astute professional to join the BHP Finance Function.

Reporting to the Manager Finance Reporting and based in the Brisbane office, you will be part of the Reporting team for Minerals Australia that ensures the accurate reporting of our Coal and Olympic Dam consolidated results to our key stakeholders including Group Reporting/Asset Operations/Finance Business Partners and Investor Relations. This current opportunity exists to support the reporting deliverables for BHP’s three Australian-based Coal Assets, being Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), Billiton Mitsui Coal (BMC) and New South Wales Energy Coal.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering (Monthly, YTD, FY) results including: EBITDA, FCF, Unit Cost and Capital for delivery to Group Reporting.
  • Consolidation, review and interpretation of 2 year budget, 5 year plan and on-cycle forecasts.
  • Review of Management Briefing Papers for half year and full year
  • Co-ordination of Quarterly Operational Results, Half Yearly Results and input to annual financial statements
  • Deliver ad hoc queries/analysis and sensitivities for key metrics
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with regional stakeholders providing inputs into our processes and the customers of our outputs, including the production planning teams, Marketing, Heads of Finance, Planning and Analytics (P&A), Global Asset Services (GAS) and Group Reporting.
  • Drive for continuous improvement and standardisation - including interaction with World Class Functions (WCF) initiatives for Optimise Reporting, transitioning of P&A activity to Reporting and Project Prime Integration.

About You

  • Bachelor degree in accounting or finance with 10+ years experience.
  • Experience in consolidation/analysis of financial results for actuals and forecast cycles.
  • Leadership skills in a multi-cultural environment and the ability to influence, lead and manage change.
  • Superior communication, influencing and interpersonal skills, essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders across operational and functional teams.
