About the role

Responsible for HR analytics on behalf the HR function, this role is accountable for various activities including data extraction, transformation, modelling, data visualisation, benchmarking and analysis to ultimately enable the organisation to make better people decisions based on data and analytics.

Core Accountabilities
  • Leads the design, implementation and ongoing management of HR analytics & dashboard solutions to meet the needs of the business
  • Designs, develops, and implements innovative analytical solutions using analytical tools including TIBCO Spotfire, SQL etc.
  • Partners with Technology to ensure HR reporting and analytics needs are met by the necessary data warehouse platforms
  • Collaborates with stakeholders across BHP to understand business problems, gather requirements, recommend and implement innovative solutions including, but not limited to, gathering, extracting, organising, manipulating and analysing HR data from multiple internal sources and developing visualisations and decision support tools using TIBCO Spotfire, SQL and other applications.
  • Applies SQL, IronPython and JavaScript languages on large scale databases, while maintaining high data integrity.
  • Demonstrates ability to ingest different file types into visualisations, including DXP, SBDF, TXT, XLSX, CSV, STDF, MDB, MDE, ACCDB, ACCDE, SAS7BDAT, UDL, SFS, LOG, SBDF, SHP.
  • Contributes to the development of the HR data analytics strategy and roadmap.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given parameters
  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations
  • Communicates complex problems and data analysis to key decision makers in a simple, articulate manner using storytelling and visualisation 
  • Coaches and conducts training to enhance knowledge and analytics competency of the reporting and analytics team as well as the broader HR function
  • Demonstrates commitment to the BHP Charter and Code of Business Conduct, including an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Ensures alignment with and compliance to relevant Our Requirements (GLDs), legislation, agreements and standards including HR data privacy obligations
  • Contributes to maintaining a culture of innovation, learning, development and continuous improvement

About You

Degree or qualifications in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or other relevant business degree required

Experience & Technical Competencies
  • 5+ years of relevant analytics experience
  • Proven experience in data visualisation tools (TIBCO Spotfire preferred)
  • Strong SQL, IronPython and JavaScript language capabilities
  • Demonstrates ability to ingest different file types into visualisations, including DXP, SBDF, TXT, XLSX, CSV, STDF, MDB, MDE, ACCDB, ACCDE, SAS7BDAT, UDL, SFS, LOG, SBDF, SHP.
  • Proficient in data collection, data organisation, analysis, visualisation and presentation of data
  • Ability to optimise dashboards with significant volumes of data
  • Proven ability to take complex problems and analysis to distil into simple, easy to understand insights
  • Strong technical design skills
  • HR experience in an international organisation is an advantage
  • Proven ability to deliver effective communications both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
