About the role

Reporting to the Head of Drilling and Completions the Principal Drilling Engineer:
  • Designs and constructs all types of wells, manages well related projects and is fully integrated with the work of other team members in same or other disciplines, with little or no direct supervision
  • Takes responsibility and accountability for delivery of own work and that of team
  • Solves complex technical problems
  • Recognizes and differentiates risks and uncertainties and identifies potential mitigations
  • Advises management on direction of work, cost, time, and risks
  • Communicates results of work by entire team to management and partners
  • Role model for professional and ethical behaviour
  • Coaches and mentors junior members of the team

About You

To be successful in this role you will have a tertiary qualification in Engineering (Petroleum or Mechanical preferred with advanced drilling, completions or intervention technical courses). Your exceptional interpersonal skills will see you mentoring and coaching junior members of the team, drawing on your deep technical knowledge. Your communication will also assist you in preparing and delivering presentations and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders both internal and external. As a Principal you will be the technical authority for well design, engineering problem solving, cost reduction efforts, optimal efficiency for operations and verification of well integrity.  


You will be based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi award winning office tower - ‘City Square’. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues.
