About the role

We now have an opportunity in Operations Services for a maintenance expert to provide leadership across our operations with a focus on maintenance capability development and performance improvement. The Principal Instructor Maintenance role supports front-line maintenance leaders and teams to achieve consistently high levels of maintenance performance through the Mastery Program including development of key standards for maintenance, coaching and other support to help bring these standards to reality across multiple operations. The purpose of this role is to enable the building and sustaining of high and consistent levels of maintenance skills and performance at the front line. The work of the Principal Instructor Maintenance includes:
  • Leading ongoing development and implementation of the Operations Services Mastery Program, particularly in relation to maintenance.
  • The development, improvement and integrity of Maintenance Standards and related resources including upskilling resources and verification tools and practices.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop resources and methods for upskilling front line teams to work consistently to the established Maintenance Standards.
  • Carrying out maintenance performance verifications against Maintenance Standards at the frontline including coaching others in assessment and verification processes.
  • Providing advice, support and coaching to frontline leaders on the continued application of high quality maintenance management practices and relevant process improvement methods
  • Continuous monitoring of maintenance crews and their frontline leaders’ performance and initiating the necessary input or support to ensure Maintenance Standards are achieved and maintained.
  • Encouraging and leading productive collaboration across the Leadership and Production Instructors and Training teams through informal processes as well as formal forums and routines. 
  • Working with the Operations Services Maintenance Leadership Team to build the required capability across the business.

About You

The successful candidate will have or be:
  • A strong track record as a leader in maintenance, at least at the Superintendent level and preferably across multiple mine sites and equipment types - mobile and fixed plant.
  • A skilled coach, trainer and adviser with the ability to tailor resources to maximize their effectiveness in the workplace.
  • A good understanding of, and proven skills in leading or facilitating work process analysis and improvement.
  • Considerable experience and skills in the use of technology in managing work processes, data capture and performance reporting.
  • Strong communication skills and proven ability to engage and build relationships across multiple layers of the organization from senior management to mine site leaders and technicians.
  • Very good organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritise tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.
