About the role

As a Principal Integration Engineer under Enterprise & Global, you will play a key role supporting Integration@BHP as we support the Assets in delivering Integration at pace through the delivery of services using your diverse Integration experience and deep domain knowledge. 

The work:The Principal Integration Engineer will be critical in the design and delivery of Integration Platforms and solutions collaborating in the evangelism of the capabilities, standards and processes to ensure consistent quality outcomes across the organisation. This role will consult on the design of solutions involving Integration, contribute to the Enterprise Patterns library, and contribute to continuous improvement or the practice.

Hands-on experience is a must-have to drive detailed technical discussions and even PoC/Pilots to fast-track the implementation of integration flows across the capability stack. 
Key accountabilities include:
  • Understanding business problems and the Integration capability roadmap
  • Working with delivery teams to identify required integration requirements for their solutions
  • Develop and maintain working relationship with respective stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Data & Enterprise Architects and Data Engineers
  • Collaboration with integration architects for integration requirements, design & any dependencies
  • Collaboration with Integration community on integration designs, standards/guidelines, learnings from the projects & continuous improvement initiatives
  • Contribute to Integration documentation, tutorials, code libraries & sample code
  • Proactive participation in Integration community initiatives & activities
  • Ensures adherence to design / build standards
  • Design of data pipelines / integration flows for transfer of data from source systems to the designated target system(s), all the while adhering to Integration standards and existing frameworks.
  • Responsible for monitoring relevant systems and associated integration performance and conduct tuning activities to maintain the optimum performance of the system.
  • Design reusable assets, components, standards, frameworks, and processes to support and facilitate API and integration projects
  • Drives the creation of new Integration Blueprints and patterns (when applicable).

About You

The successful candidate will have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology.
  • 10 years’ experience with SOA, ESB, and Messaging implementation and development experience.
  • Proficiency with both writing and consuming web services, as well as knowledge of the underlying API related technologies (REST, JSON, XML, SOAP, WSDL etc.) is a must.
  • Solid understanding of SOA design principles, integration patterns and messaging systems
  • Experience with cloud and on-prem infrastructure, security, scaling, support, troubleshooting, monitoring, alerts, messaging patterns, integration patterns, API and microservices principles.
  • Experience in the following integration capabilities / toolsets preferred:
    • API Enablement: Mulesoft Anypoint Platform
    • Application Integration Services: Mulesoft Anypoint Platform
    • Event Driven Integration: Solace PubSub+
    • Managed File Transfer: GoAnywhere
    • Data Integration: Streamsets
  • Fluent with Anypoint Platform and MuleSoft's API Led Methodology
  • Sufficient knowledge of working with microservices architecture and API management integration (Istio, Anypoint Service Mesh).
  • Experienced using StreamSets Control Hub and Data Collector to design, test, deploy, operate, and maintain pipelines that flow streaming and batch data.
  • Experienced using Solace for Messaging & Event Management, Streaming.
  • Experience working in DevOps, Agile, Scrum, Continuous Delivery and/or Rapid Application Development environments.
  • Hands-on experience building mock and proof-of-concepts across different capabilities/toolsets.
  • Experience mentoring and training other developers with best practices and design patterns, potentially including code reviews of other developers is a must.
  • Proven ability to design and optimise application and data integration processes across disparate systems.
