About the role

As the Senior Radio and Transmission Network Engineer, you will be the SME in all aspects of the LTE Radio Access Network (RAN) and Microwave transmission domain including Eutran, LTE, RF, Microwave, FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE and Fibre Optics knowledge. You will design, optimize and integrate LTE RAN and Microwave transmission networks in line with the BHP Operational Technology standards and adherence to blueprint. This global role will offer you the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects across our assets. Key duties to include;
  • Implement logical and physical changes as required for project execution in coordination with the Technology Remote Operations Centre (TROC) whilst following safe work instructions
  • Design and develop technical solutions.
  • Document and analyse processes  and requirements
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of OT communications standards and blueprints
  • Act as as a level 3 SME in LTE RAN and Microwave transmission network projects
  • Scan industry trends and innovations, and their impact on technology.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other RAN engineers, Wireless engineers and Digital Radio System Engineers within the team to promote a cross skilling and depth of knowledge across all disciplines.
  • Actively engage to develop maintenance strategy to assist the operational teams for LTE RAN and Microwave transport systems in line with business requirements.

About You

You will need to be flexible and able to travel internationally for projects as required. Experience working within a matrix organization environment will be beneficial as will exposure to heavy industry such as mining, manufacturing, utilities etc.  Criteria to include; 
  • Multi Skilled across IP Network Engineering, Communications and Electronic systems including: Radio
  • Solid experience in using industry standard network monitoring and management tools (Solarwinds, Splunk etc.) and develop monitoring tool requirement for new services, update or modify existing tools to accommodate newly added elements
  • Familiarity to IP networks (Routing, Switching and Firewalls).
  • Familiarity in hosting and infrastructure,  virtualization experience using VMWare
  • Familiarity in solar DC power systems (Solar panels, batteries and regulators)
  • Attention to detail, testing and documentation

  • STEM Qualification is ideal
  • Trade certificate in various transmission and communications technologies, electronic communications / Network Technologies including wired and wireless / safety and critical communication systems
  • ITIL or similar industry best practice tool certification, preferred but not essential
  • IT network certifications (CCNA,CCNP,CCIE – or industry recognised equivalent)
  • Open/unrestricted Cabling Licence
