About the role

The role of Senior Radio and Transmission Network Engineer is to design, optimize and integrate LTE Radio Access Network (RAN) and Microwave transmission networks. You will be relied upon to ensure designed solutions are delivered into operations with strict adherence to blueprint.
You will be a Subject Matter Expert in all aspects of the LTE Radio Access Network (RAN) and Microwave transmission domain including EUTRAN, LTE RF Microwave, FDD-LTE. TDD-LTE and Fibre Optics Technologies.
Duties will include but will not be limited to;
  • Ensure safe systems of work utilizing existing tools, operating standards in work management/service management process to deliver best of breed designs and solutions whilst limiting impact to operations
  • Maintain the end-to-end RF, RAN and Microwave design documents and blueprints.
  • Ensure Design documents and blueprints are strictly and safely adhered to.
  • Develop technical network requirements based on feedback from internal customers.
  • Liaise with network functional team to design and implement a range of solutions and functions.
  • Provide coaching to other team members
  • Actively participate in the development and maintenance of BHP OT communications standards
  • Provide subject matter expertise to operational support teams to resolve priority issues as required

Being a senior role within the team you will be required to provide mentor ship and guidance to the other RAN engineers, Wireless engineers and Digital Radio System Engineers within the team to promote a cross skilling and depth of knowledge across all disciplines.

About You

You will need to be flexible and able to travel internationally for projects as required. Experience working within a matrix organization environment will be beneficial as will exposure to heavy industry such as mining, manufacturing, utilities etc.  
Criteria to include;

  • Multi skilled across IP Network Engineering, Communications and Electronic systems including: Radio Frequency, LTE EUTRAN, Microwave Backhaul transport network systems.
  • Thorough understanding of Cat 5e, Cat 6 and OM3/4 – OS2 fiber optic cabling system
  • Familiarity to IP networks
  • Solid technical background in a hosted services environment including infrastructure networks, hardware, software and telecommunications
  • Hands on experience on the Nokia Products including Flexi Multi Radio and Airscale BTS, Microwave MPR PTP and Radwin PTMP systems.
  • Make positive work relationships a priority and display a genuine passion and commitment toward the team
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Attention to detail, testing and documentation
  • All required site statutory competencies as referenced in the site health and safety management system and/or BHP policy
  • A proven track record of safety management
  • Excellent oral and written, sound communication and interpersonal skills
  • STEM Qualification is ideal
  • Trade certificate in various transmission and communications technologies, electronic communications / Network Technologies including wired and wireless / safety and critical communication systems 
  • ITIL or similar industry best practice tool certification, preferred but not essential
  • IT network certifications (CCNA,CCNP,CCIE – or industry recognised equivalent) 
  • Open/unrestricted Cabling Licence
