About our team

In IROC+ Logistics we have a team of passionate and talented subject matter experts who work together to safely achieve railing and shipping plans for BHP’s Queensland-based operations.  Brisbane-based, our team operates within the 0-2 year budget period across Week 0 Execution, Scheduling and Planning, and includes key operational and enabling support.  The safety of our team members and building a truly great and inclusive team culture is important to us – when our team members feel empowered and enabled they deliver great things!

Our team has many stakeholders, both internal and external and we work collaboratively with them to deliver the business plans.  Our stakeholders include Hay Point Coal Terminal and BMA Rail, BHP Marketing, Mine Site Operation teams, BMC and our external rail and port providers.

About the role

Based in our Brisbane office, the Principal Logistics is a new role in the IROC+ Logistics team.  Reporting to the Manager Logistics, this role will be a key interface with the technology project teams responsible for delivering improved tools to the IROC+ Logistics team and lead the production analysis to inform our improvement plans.  As development role within our leadership team, it will also be a key contributor to how we grow and develop our supply chain capability in BMA.

Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Project leadership and coordination in conjunction with the BHP Technology team to shape and deliver a quality technology solution to the IROC+ Logistics team and business;
  • Leadership of analysis activity as the foundation of developing improvement priorities that will enable the longer term business objectives in railing and shipping;
  • Supporting the IROC+ Logistics leaders and team members in their delivery of continuous improvement initiatives spanning safety, culture, cost savings and throughput;
  • Contribution to whole of team leadership activity, bringing your own insights and energy to the journey we are on towards a truly great team culture;
  • Contribution to the IROC+ Logistics Leadership team members to achieve our safety, culture, productivity objectives as a team; and
  • Stakeholder engagement internally and externally in support of team and business goals to achieve production, railing and shipping plans

About You

You will be someone who has had experience with improvement projects, both completing the analysis and leading the implementation of the improvement.  You will have had some leadership experience or be ready to step up to lead a small team.  You will have experience in rail, port or logistics or a related discipline and be keenly interested in developing further across the disciplines within our team.  You will be comfortable delivering work and leading work, and knowing how to calibrate and balance your time across the two.  As a skilled professional you will be effective in communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and able to balance this with being action-oriented and delivering promptly to tasks and objectives.  You will be excited by the prospect of working in the IROC+ Logistics team, the vantage point this role provides to the value chain from pit to customer and the development opportunities this provides.
