To ensure success, sustainable and optimum use of the onboard technology, we have created a role for a Principal Komatsu Autonomy reporting to the Manager Operations Technology Mining Improvement for our Coal Operations.

This role is an incredible opportunity to pioneer and develop strong operational frameworks that would lead the way not only for BHP but also for the Industry. 

You will be responsible for Production A&I support of Autonomous Haulage Systems applications, production operations and the utilisation of our Komatsu Autonomous Fleet Management System.
  • You provide support and Subject Matter Expertise of development, Autonomous Haulage Systems solution productivity and improvements, etc. with the use of monitoring tools and specialised data analytics and diagnostic equipment;  
  • You ensure applications and network are used at their optimum to maximise truck usage; 
  • You indicate how the truck can be used at its best and use data and analytics to understand improvement to be made to operate more safely, efficiently and improve productivity;
  • You translate business requirements into the application to ensure efficiency of the mine planning; 
  • You support the Control team in the day to day use of the system; and,
  • You develop trust and strong relationships with our vendors to ensure maximum efficiency of our processes.
In this role you will be in constant connection with our site production team as well as our control operations team.

About You

You have a tertiary qualification in Application or System engineering or a STEM qualification. You have experience and understand fleet management system, from an application point of view. You ideally have worked with KOMATSU.

You like learning, have a continuous improvement mindset. You know how to translate a complex problem into a simple equation that is accessible to non technical stakeholders. You see the big picture, understand the business context and the integrated value chain. Those inform your decisions and the solutions you recommend to the business.

You will be in an influential role and will be BHP SME for our Fleet Management Systems. We will provide you with training and support to set you up for success, and expect you to coach and develop team members.
