About the role

As Principal DevOps Engineer, you will proactively enhance and maintain operational stability, availability and performance of critical operational technology (OT) in the Rail & Logistics portfolio. Reporting to the Superintendent OT Logistics Improvement, your key accountabilities will include:
  • Lead DevOps resources in Agile SCRUM process for the continuous improvement of custom in-house built and maintained applications using onshore & offshore resources
  • Full-stack development of custom software applications
  • Identify and lead initiatives for improvement of application reliability, stability and performance
  • Provide subject matter expertise for application design, maintenance and support
  • Provide technical expertise and stewardship for the continuous maintenance and improvement of the product stability, reliability and performance
  • Lead problem management and root cause analysis for failures in Logistics applications
  • Participate in the Minerals Australia OT Logistics Improvement WAIO Team
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with BHP teams, service partners,  and vendors
  • Utilise Work Management systems to optimise site-based team’s schedule and utilisation
  • Support a culture of continuous improvement across people, process, technology and cost

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have deep knowledge and experience of full-stack development in complex n-tier applications (Python, Angular, C# .NET). Most importantly, you will have solid recent experience leading Agile SCRUM DevOps application teams, including offshore resources. Proven experience with continuous application improvement for reliability and performance is also a requirement for this role.
You will have a tertiary qualification in Technology, Engineering, Computer Science or similar discipline and have 5+ years’ post-qualification experience developing, maintaining and supporting complex business systems, preferably OT systems. Strong understanding of the entire ISA95 suite will be advantageous, though not essential. You are a highly logical thinker, with good analytical skills with an excellent understanding of root cause analysis.
As the preferred candidate, you have superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop meaningful relationships and influence stakeholders across all organisational levels. Your ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks, projects and stakeholders simultaneously will be critical. You can understand and communicate highly technical information to non-technical audiences. An ability to lead teams, including third-party vendors and support staff, will be looked on favourably.
