About the role

As a Principal within the Project Contracts and Procurement (PC&P) function for Minerals Australia, you will be responsible for the Market Intelligence program reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Advisor. The Market Intelligence program will include the monitoring and analysis of industry trends, contractor capability, contractor capacity and corporate due diligence. Through the program, a regular PC&P Market Intelligence report will provide visibility and transparency of the current market and BHP’s key supply chain through a database of procurement and delivery intelligence.

The Role is for a duration of 12 months and Australia based preferably located in Brisbane although given the recent advancement in communication the Brisbane location is not absolute.

You will be required to travel to Company offices and sites from time to time.

Key accountabilities:
  • Oversee the Market Intelligence program.
  • Prepare a regular Market Intelligence report providing an executive level overview of the current market and BHP’s key supply chain.
  • Identify market trends, risks, opportunities and issues.
  • Escalate identified issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop market engagement and implement component activities that support the wider business and enhance BHP’s reputation.


About You

Ideally, you will hold a tertiary qualification (Quantity Surveying, procurement, engineering, business, economics, law are preferred) with strong experience within the mining and mineral resources industry or similar experience on the Contractor side (engineering/technical consultancies or construction) with a demonstrated understanding of project delivery.

You will have the opportunity to utilise your advanced engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships. Likewise, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, a high standard of oral and written communication skills and be comfortable with analysing and comprehending large data sets.

You will also possess the following:
  • Demonstrable analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Experience in applying your strengths in analysis and problem solving in order to develop business solutions;
  • Stakeholder management experience;
  • Experience developing and delivering executive-level presentations;
  • Experience managing and developing colleagues;
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment;
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities;
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational management skills;
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.
