About the role

As a member of the Operations team in the Project Contracts & Procurement Supply sub-function for Minerals Australia. You will be responsible for working collaboratively to manage and where necessary implement panel Framework Agreement contracts according to the approved strategy with an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development. The Panels strategy requires the management of a robust Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) framework for communication, reporting, performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.  A core focus of this role will be providing the primary interface between BHP end users, other internal stakeholders and external service providers (Contractors / Engineers) to ensure the contractual terms of the panel and SRM framework are met. You will be required to travel to Company offices and sites from time to time when requested.

Key accountabilities:
  • Drive (and or modify as appropriate) the development of real-time procurement strategies.
  • Develop / Modify reports that Monitor performance and report on the Contractors for the panels at both project and portfolio levels in line with contracted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and requirements of the SRM Framework, including preparation of official correspondence in a timely manner.
  • Maintain business intelligence of actual spend under contract and forecasted project pipeline for proactive management of the panel, and ongoing project requirements.
  • Organise and facilitate meetings with internal and external stakeholders relevant to fulfil the operational, management and strategic levels of the SRM framework.
  • Manage the documentation and review/ approval process for the execution of variation/ amendment requests for panel contracts to company guidelines, including annual price reviews and maintenance of contractor contact and capability information profiles. 
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all contract documentation and vendor master data in the CMS.
  • Investigate and resolve any issues with PO requisition and 1SAP processes
  • Review and respond to potential new vendors with suitable responses to business development enquiries.
  • Escalate contractual issues to relevant stakeholders and coordinate the resolution process including the facilitation and resolution of issues arising from claims, invoicing and rebates.
  • Key point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding queries on the panel contracts, SRM framework and vendor information.
  • Execute new contracts compliant with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Group Level Documents (GLDs), Functional Level Requirements (FLRs) and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Work as the primary interface between BHP and the Contractor/Engineer to ensure best for project outcome.
  • Lead and assist issue resolution between BHP and the Contractor/Engineer to ensure a suitable and balanced outcome by providing, independent, and ethical review that is not constrained by individual project issues.

About You

You should hold MRICS Status with strong demonstrated experience on the Contractor side (engineering/technical consultancies or construction) with a demonstrated understanding of project management, project services and the mechanics of a panel of contracts. Alternatively you will hold a tertiary qualification (Quantity Surveying/procurement, engineering, business, law are preferred) or similar with experience within the construction industry. You will have the opportunity to utilise your advanced engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships. Likewise, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of oral and written communication skills.

You will also possess the following:

  • Experience in applying your strengths in analysis and problem solving in order to develop business solutions;
  • Significant stakeholder management experience.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational management skills.
  • Proficient in the MS Office Suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.
  • Ideally, SAP experience and experience in a mature Contract Management System (CMS) is preferred.
