About the role

Our global BHP Technology Function works closely with our Operations, Functions and Centres of Excellence to drive improvement in safety, culture, productivity and social value through the application of world class technology. As part of the global Functions and Centres of Excellence Project Delivery team, you will be accountable for the successful execution of a variety projects in a diverse range of applications and technologies that enable the safe and efficient operation of our businesses.  This role is based in either in Brisbane or Perth.In the role of Principal Project Manager you will:
  • Manage the delivery of complex technology projects ensuring that projects are pragmatically delivered to budget, schedule and agreed customer expectations;
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety and the environment to ensure everyone goes home safe each day;
  • Engage with business and Technology stakeholders at various levels of the organization to build effective and trusted working relationships;
  • Lead multi-disciplinary and geographically distributed project teams;
  • Ensure appropriate organisational change management and operational readiness activities are undertaken such that solutions are effectively embedded such that the desired business outcomes and benefits are achieved; 
  • Ensure technology solutions delivered are fit for purpose, align with Technology standards and are supportable;
  • Maintain project portfolio reporting and deliver effective project communications.

About You

Familiarity with best practice project management frameworks incorporating vendor management, quality assurance, organisational change management, commissioning and operational readiness. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant STEM discipline is required.Experience in leadership roles in project delivery with heavy industry experience ideally although not essential. Key criteria includes;
  • Demonstrable experience in managing technology programs and projects with budgets up to $20M across regional and global locations to deliver effective technology solutions through pragmatically applying industry standard project methodologies.
  • Demonstrable experience in effectively engaging globally dispersed stakeholders   and multi-disciplinary teams within matrix structures.
  • Strong business relationship management skills with the ability to shape and influence stakeholders as required.
  • Demonstrable safety leadership.
  • Disciplined approach to project schedule, financial and risk management.
  • High energy work ethic, tenacity and patience along with attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical decision-making capability.
  • Effective communicator (both verbal and written) with solid interpersonal skills, excellent presentation skills and able to convey information to non-technical colleagues in a concise and clear way (Spanish language valuable).
  • Strong team based approach to work. Offers peer-support and actively participates in sharing of knowledge / skills.
  • Ability to travel regionally or globally for short periods plus the ability for flexible working hours to align with global time zones when required.
