About the role

Reporting to the Manager Project Services OBO (Operated by Others) the Principal Project Services Provides specialist advice and executes tasks in the provision of project cost and scheduling services to Projects during various stages of project development.
  • Reviews and provides constructive feedback on Operator monthly reports for cost and schedules.
  • Provides cost engineering expertise and support to the Project Management Office, Project Development and Delivery sub-functions to ensure the optimum delivery of a project\program of projects. 
  • Implements the appropriate project control requirements for multiple non-operated projects; project types are offshore Gulf of Mexico greenfield, brownfield, deepwater, subsea tie-backs in various stages of develop from pre-concept selection through execution.
  • Work with other stakeholders to develop conceptual cost estimates.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders across multiple technical disciplines to ensure project costs, schedules and reporting is up to date.
  • Collates and reviews individual project costs and comparison against the project budget. 
  • Integrates operator schedules in to an overall project schedule and provide monthly updates.
  • Supports delivery of Project Services deliverables for projects in Opportunity Assessment (OA) phase through project initiation. 
  • Identifies and implements Cost Engineering improvement initiatives.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of company benchmarking tool.
  • Maintains and implements latest industry guidance as relates to escalation and inflation indices.
  • Liaises with representatives from the project teams, Risk, Procurement, and Project Services to develop the time phased forecast to complete on projects. 
  • Manages Value of Work Done and submits project accruals as required.
  • Participate in and support facilitation Schedule Cost Risk Analysis (SCRA) as required.
  • Guides and coaches project personnel on the requirements and implementation of project services principles. 
  • Is proactive in input to Cost Engineering processes, systems and standards used across BHP Projects. 

About You

Extensive experience in Project Controls, Cost, Scheduling and a demonstrated understanding of Offshore, Deepwater and Subsea Projects will enable your success in this role, OBO experience is preferred however not mandatory. As a Principal, your ability to engage and communicate effectively across a range of disciplines and levels will be key as you will play a critical role in providing guidance and training to both specialist team members, contractors and consultants in relation to BHP deliverables. Experience in cost management systems such as CMS, Ecosys and Prism and Scheduling systems such as P6, PRA, MS Project will be highly desirable. 

You’re commitment to quality and continuous improvement will see you consistently demonstrating reliability in delivering accurate work on time, while consistently ensuring that business strategy drives your ways of working. 

Additional requirements:
  • Undergraduate qualifications in Business with a Finance or Accounting Major, Engineering or a relevant discipline
