About the Opportunity

CPMS (Copper Production Management System) Program is one of the most important initiatives from Technology in Minerals Americas. It is a solution that will effectively integrate IT & OT systems across the entire value chain of the company, contextualizing and delivering integrated information, from the different process, in real time to the proper stakeholders to support decision-making process. It will enable higher optimization in planning, scheduling & dispatching decisions, and inventory management for Copper production systems.

For this opportunity as Principal Project Technology you will deliver fast value /use cases initiatives to the business. You will lead the implementation of new products for the business in an agile environment, MVPs and Proof of Concept for the Production Data Ecosystem, creating task forces to deliver quick results (i.e.: No more than 1 month iterations). You will have to map user stories, size the value and build an ecosystem of applications for the business. In the same context, your role should guarantee that the delivery of new products is sustainable over time in a perspective of continuous improvement and with business as usual.

Furthermore, the expectations of the Principal Project Technology role are to:
  • Ensure new products are aligned to strategic vision of the Technology team.
  • Engage continuous improvements teams in the operation to get insight of the quick wins for CPMS in the field of Data Integration, Visualization and Decision Support Strategies.
  • Leading Agile Development Teams.
  • Use a product mindset and support the business based on its maturity level in the use of data to support its decisions.
  • Develop and deliver new applications in coordination with the different global functions / verticals with an end-to-end perspective, including dimensions of business, technical, change management and operative model. 
  • Develop and own schedules, budget and program charters. This includes the review and approval of individual project plans developed by other Project Managers in CPMS.
  • Manage resources, identifying resource needs, develop resource plans with stakeholder(s), and on board approved resources onto the project.
  • Lead on site execution, ensuring compliance with global BHP safety programs such as Field Leadership Program.
  • Manage vendor relationship controlling performance and deliverables.
  • Lead the execution of BHP processes for project management ensuring a smooth transition to operation.
  • Manage budget, through forecasting, actual/accrual reporting, and by explaining variances.
  • Ensure all documentation is provided for ongoing communications both internally and externally (e.g. project plan, project charter, project schedule, project register etc.).
  • Identify and lead the implementation of improvement opportunities applicable to the program of work for which is responsible.
  • Connect with global technology functions to capture ideas, experiences, lessons learned and identified new collaboration channels to create synergy.

About You

The successful candidate will have:
  • Degree qualified in Civil Industrial, Engineering or Management discipline. 
  • PMP, Scrum Master, Product Owner or equivalent Certified is a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience, with a minimum of 2 years experience in Minerals or Petroleum, working in a multinational organization.
  • Exceptional relationship management, consultancy and influencing skills, to drive Improvement without direct authority.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information with the business users in business language.
  • Ability to enforce structure and discipline but remain flexible to situational priorities and provide timely decision making.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively in a diverse and globally dispersed virtual team environment, guiding and supporting team members.
  • Data Analysis Technologies, mostly Visualization, UX and Data Modeling skills. 
  • Agile experience desirable
  • Fluent English and Spanish
  • Mining technologies like Autonomous Fleet, Control Systems, and Dispatch Systems knowledge is desirable
