About the Opportunity

CPMS (Copper Production Management System) Program is one of the most important initiatives from Technology in Minerals Americas. It is a solution that will effectively integrate IT & OT systems across the entire value chain of the company, contextualizing and delivering integrated information, from the different process, in real time to the proper stakeholders to support decision-making process. It will enable higher optimization in planning, scheduling & dispatching decisions, and inventory management for Copper production systems.

As a strategically critical role, the Principal Project Technology for the Production Data Management platform position fulfills a team leadership (50%) and senior technology solution design and execution role (50%) within the Minerals Americas Technology function. 

This role is a designer and project manager, improving organization performance and achieving program goals by developing and executing end-to-end project management activities. The role must feel at home on the cutting-edge technologies, and likely being known as expert internally and externally. The role must use technical expertise, business acumen, fluid communication skills, demonstrating creativity and flexibility when creating and driving project plans and estimates, scope and requirements from implementation to deployment. Proactively manage and report on execution of deliverables. Master communicators across multiple stakeholders aligning priorities and direction.

Key accountabilities:
  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
  • Responsible for the Design and Implementation of the Production Data Management (PDM) Platform required to support Minerals Americas CPMS program, in alignment with the broader BHP Data Management Strategy and standards.
  • Lead and manage a strong team of technology specialists from different Vertical Functions to deliver in the following areas related to the PDM:
    • Application development
    • Data modelling and Information Architecture
    • Data Management and Data Governance
  • Plan work for the team; oversee the work is delivered to expected levels of quality
  • Secure and lead the resources required to effectively deliver the PDM.
  • Communicate conceptual overviews and the overall site organization to the different stakeholders, both within the Project, and stakeholders (Technology and Business);
  • Ensures that every design / decision has been effectively communicated / endorsed by the respective authorities.
  • Works directly with the Studies and Delivery teams to ensure proper alignment in designing and executing the required processes.
  • Owns the Ingestion of Data into the PDM via IT/OT sources, understanding and documenting their architecture and data structure.
  • Use the Information Architecture standard processes and toolset to model, document, map, and propose information exchange/flow to business applications.
  • Represent the Information Architecture Design Authority for Minerals America Copper

About You

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Electronics, Business). 
  • Further post-graduate qualifications would be well regarded.
  • Industry qualifications/certification in Architecture Development (e.g. TOGAF) and related methodologies is highly regarded

Experience
  • Extensive data and information management experience
  • Demonstrated architecture & strategy experience for a large organization
  • Over 2 years of experience in Software Development
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Project Manager, including:
    • Relationship Management
    • Cost Accounting
    • Operations Management
    • Quality Management
    • Service Change Management
