About the role

Reporting to the Superintendent-Reserve Geology, the Principal-Coal Value Chain Reconciliation will develop, manage, & coordinate coal reconciliation processes to better understand the value of improvements in the accuracy of resource and Reserve knowledge. This position will be required to:
  • Develop reconciliation tools to allow high-level & low-level data/parameter validation & associated feedback loops;
  • Provide continuous improvement of technical knowledge by remaining abreast of advances in reconciliation methods & applications;
  • Provide support for the development of a reliable and high quality reconciliation database;
  • Provide technical advice, input & guidance to all technical works programs that may be impacted;
  • Ensure standardisation of site strip/monthly reconciliations are in line with BHP Geological Reconciliations Global Standards;
  • Initiate reconciliation processes for coal quality delivered to market against modelled;
  • Ensure that documents & databases necessary to the running of the Reconciliation system are maintained;
  • Manage internal & external audit activities.

About You

Possessing tertiary qualifications in Geology, Mining Engineering or a related discipline you will have proven experience in mining operations gained in every stage of the value chain or end-to-end reconciliation. Also highly regarded will be your experience and knowledge of:
  • Tonnage estimation and grade control practices;
  • A thorough understanding of operational and extraction practices;
  • A demonstrated understanding of the controls of spatial distribution of geological variables & modelling techniques/limitations;
  • A working knowledge of mineral processing, measurement and sampling practices;
  • Ssynthesising & interpreting a wide range of geological data;
  • Technical excellence in  3D modelling software - Vulcan, GoCad, preferred;
  • Report writing and exposure to the JORC/coal Guidelines.
