About the role

Reporting to the Head of Risk Analysis & Insights, you will be a key member of the team that connects people with risk insights to make better decisions. Your role is to look across internal and external risk information sources to identify themes and insights for the management and reporting of key emerging, current and strategic risks to BHP.

You will prepare risk performance reports for internal and external audiences and act as convenor to certain Board and executive committees. You will have a role in identifying and delivering continuous improvement opportunities to facilitate the provision of actionable real time risk information to stakeholders across BHP. You will help ensure the Board and management understand and prioritise the full spectrum and magnitude of risks faced by BHP by drawing on aggregation principles, reviewing completeness of the profile, and monitoring and reporting emerging risks and performance against risk appetite.

As the Principal Risk Analysis & Insights, your responsibilities are to:
  • Prepare Board and executive reports on the Company’s most significant operational, strategic, financial and legal risks, emerging risks and risk management performance
  • Act as convenor to Board or executive committees, liaising with committee members and Group Governance to deliver timely and relevant risk information    
  • Prepare Company-level risk information for external reports such as the Annual Report, Sustainability Report and Company prospectuses
  • Analyse risk data to determine the organisation’s aggregate risk exposure and inform the prioritisation of business and risk activities
  • Contribute to setting and monitoring organisational performance metrics including key risk indicators and key performance indicators
  • Conduct benchmarking and scan the internal and external environment to contribute to the identification of emerging, strategic and current risks for inclusion in the risk profile
  • Monitor changes in the external and internal environment and regulations that may impact risk reporting completeness or accuracy
  • Identify and deliver opportunities to continuously improve the quality of risk reporting across the Company, drawing on internal and external networks and resources to understand best practices

About You

Ideally you will bring to the role the following skills and experience:
  • Significant experience in reporting risk or business performance or in advisory roles which require extensive data or information analysis
  • Demonstrated experience preparing reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in risk management, and knowledge of professional standards (ISO31000, COSO, and RIMS).
  • Ability to partner with stakeholders to build a culture of collaboration and achieve change through influence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and evaluative judgment skills. 
  • High attention to detail with strong quality control skills.
  • Mining or oil and gas experience preferred.
  • Degree in engineering, legal, financial or other relevant field preferred.
  • SAP risk management experience highly regarded.
