About the role

This position is part of our new and exciting Strategic Partnerships team within our Commercial function. This team will drive functional excellence in identifying, establishing and leveraging ecosystems and strategic partnerships to maximise BHP’s competitive advantage and create shareholder value.
This position will lead the development of partnership strategies and frameworks that will guide BHP’s engagement with external parties, including BHP’s customers, suppliers, community groups, governments, industry peers, education institutions, etc.

·       Develop ecosystem strategies that articulate how BHP will work with external parties to achieve its business objectives.
·       Develop best practice frameworks that guide the development of strategic partnerships.
·       Develop innovative contracting mechanisms that will enable partnership strategies.
·       Drive engagement with senior internal stakeholders to promote cultural change in how BHP engages with external parties and ecosystems.
·       Develop insights related to external influences that affect BHP’s partnerships and ecosystems.

About You

·       Able to apply strategic thinking to solve complex business problems for which there are no standard processes or frameworks.
·       Comfortable with ambiguity and abstract thinking.
·       Able to quickly create high-quality presentations or documents that articulate complex ideas in a simple manner so they can be easily consumed by the intended audience
·       Has experience negotiating large-scale, highly-complex commercial agreements (including joint-ventures and risk/reward sharing agreements).
·       Able to influence executive-level stakeholders (both internal and external).
·       Able to independently lead large streams of work (and manage associated risks).
