About the role

Reporting to the Head of Delivery Technology within Minerals Australia for the East Coast, you will provide portfolio and work leadership and direction in the development Technology Projects at either our BMA or NSW & BMC coal mines. 
This is a key role enabling collaboration between the different parties and stakeholders involved in the development of designs and Business Cases for these projects.  Portfolio management and overseeing studies are key activities for this role.
This is both a strategic and tactical role which will give you exposure to a number of areas and levels in our Business from operations to support functions and will enable you to reveal your collaboration skills and leadership style. In this role you will:
  • Through effective study work stewardship, lead the development of studies for Technology Projects and secure investment approvals to enable delivery of these projects by others;
  • Drive consistent expectations, understanding and application of Project Development processes to enable compliance with Group Level Documents and Technology’s overarching strategy to achieve the Technology Vision;
  • Lead work undertaken by multiple teams and their input into a portfolio of studies, ensuring the technology selection is aligned with BHP Technology standards; applying new and approved technologies as defined by Strategy and Innovation.  These studies include those being undertaken by asset project groups where these studies include technology scope;  
  • Engage with site operations, Asset Projects and Engineering, Technology Business Partners and Technology Planning to ensure the studies, designs and Business Cases are aligned to the required outcomes and priorities;
  • Be a key enabler for the Technology team to deliver on its Safety, Productivity and Culture outcomes across all Technology projects.

About You

  • You are experienced with project study work, overseeing technical design development and investment framing;
  • You are an effective team leader and problem solver.  You communicate well, build meaningful relationships with your peers and are respected by your team;
  • You understand site HSEC requirements and demonstrate leadership to ensure studies incorporate routines such as Safety In Design;
  • You have worked in technology development environment;
  • You have developed strategy and overseen the implementation of that/those strategies to achieve project outcomes;
  • You demonstrate a strong commercial acumen which will support your decision process;
  • You are highly collaborative with effective communication skills and have proven experience in leading team and projects involving a number of stakeholders; and
  • You have a graduate qualification in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics.
