About the role

Our Technology Function consists of Technology Partners who work closely with our Assets and Operations to drive improvement in safety, volume and cost through the application of world class technology.  Global teams leading innovation support our Partners, accelerating technology delivery and driving functional excellence. In the role you will:
  • Oversee the delivery of Project studies in alignment with the Technology strategy and the stability of projects handed through to Definition and Execution tollgates
  • Ensure all conducted work is in alignment with cybersecurity and strategic design standards as relevant
  • Engage with Senior Leaders, Planning, Projects and Infrastructure & Operations teams to ensure technology designed and built, fits within the Technology portfolio and delivers business value
  • Oversee the performance of Project Development service providers engaged to augment resources or to complete work packages
  • Ensure the costs for the execution of programs are competitive within the industry, and projects are delivered to budget, schedule and agreed customer expectations
  • Provide support to other Project teams within BHP

About You

To be successful in this role, you are likely to be degree qualified in Technology, Engineering, Business or similar discipline and have 5+ years’ experience performing leadership roles in project development or delivery. Your background will be in networking, hosting or infrastructure and any professional level certifications (such as Cisco, Microsoft, VMWare, Amazon or equivalents) will be well regarded, as will in-depth Cloud expertise. Familiarity with best practice development practices including technical deliverables, vendor management, quality assurance, commissioning and operational readiness is a requirement for this role.
As the preferred candidate, you will have proven ability in the financial management of project and program budgets and demonstrable experience in Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid Waterfall project methodologies. Your analytical and systems thinking approach will be well refined, and you can understand and communicate highly technical information to non-technical audiences. You have superior interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop meaningful relationships and influence stakeholders across all organisational levels. An ability to lead large matrixed teams, including third-party vendors and support staff will see you thrive in this role.
