About the role

This position will manage the study phases of site closure and sustaining capital Projects.   Ensure closure studies, design and execution is appropriate to the risk and liabilities for each site and is consistent with the closure plan and BHP values.  Lead studies through the Identification, Selection and Definition project phases.

This position is a grade 12 role.

In this role you will:
  • Develop and manage closure project engineering and studies of varying complexity for closed mining sites across multiple jurisdictions from Identification to Execution. 
  • Directs the development of study documents and internal approval documents as projects advance through the project tollgating processes.
  • Engages multiple stakeholders in planning and execution of studies and large closure projects.
  • Contributes to all activities for budgeting, closure scope and plans including opportunity assessment, life of asset, annual, 2 year and 5 year budgets. 
  • Lead project engineering for all technical studies to align with industry best practise. 
  • Develop Project Engineering Management plans and contribute to Project Execution Plans.
  • Reviews engineering and design to ensure it meet the relevant standards. 

About You

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining, reclamation and environmental engineering 
  • Prior experience dealing with stakeholders and organizations across multiple jurisdictions. 
  • Prior experience managing external consultants in large technical studies.
  • Significant expertise in managing engineering through the pre-feasibility, feasibility and detailed engineering
  • studies.
  • Bachelor degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles in multiple disciplines across the fields of project study and execution, closure, environment, operations, legal, regulatory and safety.
